A real estate investment trust, or REIT, is a company that owns or finances income-producing real estate in multiple sectors, often traded on major stock exchanges, making the investment highly liquid. A REIT may include apartment complexes, healthcare facilities, hotels, office buildings, retail centers, self-storage, warehouses, and even infrastructure or mortgages.
